DSM Dyneema presents TrendMiner at ARC Industry Forum in Orlando
In his presentation, Renzo Rondags explained how DSM Dyneema is becoming a data driven organization (Industry 4.0) and their operations department is rapidly transforming by using TrendMiner. The process engineers are now enabled to work on every possible case, without the need to start lengthy data modeling projects. TrendMiner’s contribution to the corporate performance made DSM decide to roll-out TrendMiner wider into their organization, as well as for more key performance areas (for example within their SixSigma projects).

An Example of Using TrendMiner for a Plant Trial

“I would like to give you an example of when and how TrendMiner helped to connect people and in turn sped up one of our plant trials. After we had performed a few batches, the performance of our chemical reaction worsened instead of improving. With the help of the platform’s search and similarity function, our team was able to find and identify the root cause as a failure at a dosing valve (Figures 1 and 2).
The night shift operator shared this information, and by the next morning, the entire team was informed. This valve was replaced by noontime, and we were able to run the next trial batch that evening.”

“Before TrendMiner, we worked with Excel, getting our data right from our historian database. This was quite complicated, and we were also restricted by the amount of data that we could recreate from the database. Nowadays, it is a lot faster and easier with self-service analytics. The application is usable for everyone from the shop floor to management.”
